The Ilisu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant is one of the most significant large-scale water and energy infrastructure schemes in Turkey. Located on the Tigris system in the Mardin region, the project is distinguished by its structural scale, strategic power-generation role, and importance within wider water-resource management.
The project is defined by a concrete-faced rockfill dam configuration together with a high-capacity hydropower plant and associated hydraulic structures. Projects of this type demand disciplined coordination between geotechnical understanding, fill placement, structural interfaces, reservoir planning, and the sequencing of dam, powerhouse, and river-control works.
With an installed capacity of 1,200 MW and an annual energy yield cited at 4,120 GWh in project references, Ilisu ranks among the major hydropower assets in the country. The reservoir volume, crest length, and overall power profile underline the magnitude of the scheme and its long-term infrastructure value.
The project is also notable for the way multiple heavy civil disciplines converge within a single water-control system. Dam body works, hydraulic arrangements, structural concrete, powerhouse interfaces, and long-life operational requirements all need to be aligned through highly controlled execution.
For Arma Infrastructure, Ilisu functions as a flagship reference in dam and hydropower construction. It demonstrates engagement with very large water-control and energy-supporting systems where structural scale, hydraulic performance, durability, and organized field management must work together from construction through commissioning.
